I dug up some of my comic book drawings, from about 100 years ago, and thought I would share them with everybody. You will probably notice that Wolverine was my favorite comic book character. The rest of the X-men were right after that.
It’s a nostalgic feeling seeing all my favorite childhood comic book characters come to life in movies lately. Nice to see them being introduced to another generation though. For example, I would have never seen Hugh Jackman and Ryan Renolds in the picture below as Wolverine and Deadpool. Here’s a picture I drew more than 10 years ago (god I’m getting old).
Predator was also a favorite character of mine. After I saw Arnold in the first Predator I was hooked! A fellow artist and myself, as kids, paused the movie and each drew our versions of the Predator emerging from the water.
Wolverine was always an island. He never needed nor wanted anyone’s help. A lot of times this got him into trouble. Seen below, Wolverine, again, has gotten himself surrounded by impossible odds. Don’t worry, he can handle it.
A new X-men movie is coming out this summer I believe. This time Magneto and Xavier are being introduced as young men. I imagine Xavier would look a little something like this in his youth.
This next drawing is probably my favorite out of any drawing I’ve ever done. This is the very first “good” drawing I drew. Don’t get me wrong, I know it sucks. But I drew it when I was 14. And it was the first time I realized that I could draw something well. I remember getting so excited because what I had just created, almost looked like what I had envisioned.
Below are a couple of my prized possessions (don’t laugh). No, they aren’t worth more than 50 bucks, that I know of, but they bring back many great childhood memories. I thought I was on top of the world when I purchased these two bad boys. Try not to be jealous
.
So let me know what you think of my (very old) drawings. And I’m curious if you ever had any childhood heroes of your own. Let me know who, and why they were your heroes, in the comments below!
